For a period during this past growing season, I harvested hundreds of cosmos. Cosmos are gorgeous flowers, but they are also fragile. It's easy to snap the stem. When you're working on a farm, you always notice parallels between climate change, politics, life in general, and agriculture, but this year I felt that most acutely when I was gathering a beautiful handful of cosmos, and holding them gently.
